The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a popular circuit trail located in the lower Annapurna region. The highlight of this trek is the stunning viewpoint at Poon Hill, renowned for its breathtaking sunrise over the snow-capped peaks. As the sun rises, the mountains shift in color from grey to pink to brilliant white, creating an unforgettable experience. This trek is relatively easy and can be undertaken year-round, though autumn and spring offer the most picturesque scenery. It’s ideal for trekkers of all levels seeking a short adventure in the Himalayas combined with a rich cultural experience.

The journey begins at Nayapul, a 90-minute drive from Pokhara. The trail winds through terraced rice fields, ascends steeply to Ulleri, and traverses scenic rhododendron forests, culminating in the iconic sunrise view from Poon Hill. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy lush forests of rhododendron and oak, charming Gurung and Magar villages, cascading waterfalls, and terraced fields while gaining insights into the local culture and way of life.

Standing at an altitude of 3,210 meters, Poon Hill provides panoramic views of towering peaks such as Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail, 6,997m), Annapurna South, Himchuli, and other neighboring mountains. The trek also includes a visit to Ghandruk village, home to the Gurung community, famed for their legacy as Gurkha soldiers during World War II. Surrounded by terraced farmlands, this village offers a unique glimpse into the Gurung culture, featuring distinct language, traditions, attire, and rituals, enriching the trekking experience with vibrant cultural diversity.

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu - 1400 meters

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, a representative holding a sign with your name will greet you at the arrival gate. You will then be escorted to your selected hotel, where you can unwind and refresh. Later in the evening, we will pick you up from your hotel for a special welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can enjoy cultural dances unique to the region.
Day 02

Fly to Pokhara and same day start trek to Ulleri - 30 mins flight / about 5 hrs trek

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you'll be transferred to the airport for a brief 30-minute flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival at Pokhara airport, you'll meet our dedicated crew. From there, a drive to Nayapul marks the starting point of your trek to the village of Ulleri. The journey, which lasts approximately six hours, winds through lush subtropical forests, serene riverbanks, and charming villages. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Ulleri.
Day 03

Trek to Ghorepani (2,750m)

Today’s journey takes us to Ghorepani. Shortly after departing from Ulleri, we’ll trek through a lush rhododendron forest that comes alive with vibrant blooms in the spring. Along the way, we’ll pass through the charming villages of Banthati and Nangethati before arriving at Ghorepani. This large Magar village is renowned for its breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, rich cultural heritage, and distinctive housing styles. We’ll spend the night in Ghorepani, surrounded by its serene beauty.
Day 04

Hike to Poon Hill (3,210m) and trek to Tadapani (2,700m)

We’ll begin the day with an early start, setting off on our hike toward the iconic Poon Hill (3,210m). This renowned viewpoint offers a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna Mountains, showcasing over 20 snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Fishtail (6,993m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Annapurna II and III, among others. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, we’ll head back to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing our trek to Tadapani. The trail takes us deep into lush forests, with cascading waterfalls and flowing streams along the way. The total trekking time for the day is approximately 5-6 hours, and we’ll spend the night in Tadapani.
Day 05

Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk

After breakfast, we’ll begin our descent to Ghandruk, a large Gurung village known for its cultural richness and traditional lifestyle. The trail winds through a dense forest teeming with diverse flora and fauna, offering a tranquil and scenic journey. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of majestic peaks, including Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Himalchuli. Once we reach Ghandruk, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the village, immerse yourself in its preserved traditions, and engage with the friendly locals. We’ll end the day with an overnight stay in this charming village.
Day 06

Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the enchanting scenery of terraces and scattered houses as we trek down to Nayapul. From there, we’ll board a bus or car for a drive back to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city. In Pokhara, we’ll have the chance to explore its beauty, including a serene boat ride on Phewa Lake, before settling in for an overnight stay.
Day 07

Back to Kathmandu

After an incredible adventure in the majestic mountains and hills of the Annapurna Himal, start your morning with breakfast in Pokhara before embarking on an overland journey back to Kathmandu. Alternatively, you can opt for a quick 30-minute flight to Kathmandu.
Day 08

Final departure

We will arrange your transfer to the airport 3 hours before your flight departure. From there, you can return to the comfort of your home or embark on another tour or trek to your next destination.

This trek is an easy route, perfect for walking enthusiasts who can comfortably walk 4 to 6 hours a day while carrying a light daypack.
